We visited Action Wildlife Foundation over the summer and it was absolutely worth the drive. It ended up being one of our favorite last-minute day trips- its a mix of zoo, safari, and farm all in one. They have a really great variety of animals to see, and what I loved most is that you’re not stuck doing just one thing. You can stay in the car for the drive-thru portion, hop out to explore different walking areas, and wander through the barns where the kids can get up close and personal. We bought feed (highly recommend), and the animals were very motivated to say hello-- that was a hit for kids and adults. There are multiple spots to stop, walk, stretch legs, and take photos, so you never feel rushed. We bought our tickets online ahead of time and had a beautiful day for it... which makes all the difference because you're outside for most of the visit. 10 out of 10 experience for families with little ones who want something interactive, affordable, and different from your usual zoo day. We can't wait to go back next year!

πŸ† Family Action Verdict

Perfect for families seeking an interactive wildlife experience that goes beyond traditional zoos. Best suited for children who enjoy hands-on animal encounters and families comfortable with 3+ hours of outdoor activity. The combination of drive-thru safari, walking areas, and petting zones works well for mixed age groups, though substantial walking is required.

β€œTilhis was great and well worth the hour drive. We went with a 6&9 year old and the variety of what they offer is incredible. There is a great mix of animals you can see and watch from a distance, the animals you can feed us plenty and the petting zoo area was great for getting up close and personal. The hayride was a great break from walking and the opportunity to drive or walk the park means any and everyone who wants to see some wildlife can be satisfied. All the animals were out and about and although you can't touch them, your can get up close and personal in so many ways. We have been on some pretty exotic trips and seen animals from all over the world so I tried to get up my hopes up about something local but it exceeded expectations by far! We were there for 3 hours and could have spent more time. I definitely recommend for a day out, it will make your heart happy!”

β€œHad booked in advance for the Wild Warm Up Experience and it was so worth it! Drove about 2 hours from Mystic CT and my mother and I had such an unforgettable time. Greeted by a wonderful gentleman at entrance who checked us in and allowed us to look around the museum and gift shop while we waited for our 1130 time slot. During our experience we got to feed and pet all the amazing animals and Lilly one of the guides fed us with great knowledge and let us interact with them. The hour went by so fast because we were enjoying ourselves so much. Very clean facility and you can tell the staff really takes pride and cares about what they do. We will definitely be back in the summer to experience more!”
