1 / 3AMC DINE-IN Essex Green 9
π West Orange, NY
Movie theater with reclining seats and table service for snacks and meals. Staff are friendly and helpful, but families should be cautious about food quality and cleanliness.
Love coming to this theater. It's always clean, there's barely any wait time for the concessions or entry and the staff are kind. The seats are clean and functional. The food is good depending on what you get, but it doesn't come out cold. We've been here for a couple of premiere nights and it was a good time.
π Family Action Verdict
This dine-in theater works best for families who stick to simple snacks and focus on the movie experience rather than the meal. The staff are genuinely helpful and seats are comfortable, but serious food safety and cleanliness concerns make it risky for dining. Consider eating elsewhere and just getting drinks or basic concessions.

βI prepaid for our movie tickets & popcorn combo. Movie was set for 11pm & they was going to bring our stuff to our table at 11:10 . I called them around 10:45 & let them know we are running late , the lady said when we arrive to just go to the counter & retrieve our items β¦. We finally get there at 11:30 . The movie theater is completely locked . We had to knock to get in .. when we told her we purchased the combo she told us to go to the counter & grab our drinks & they will bring the rest of the items to us . Now we are at our seats . Time is now around 12:20. We still havenβt received anything .. the people next to us was also complaining they did not revive they items . I went to speak to the manager & she was completely unfazed & acted as she did not care . She said the kitchen is closed β¦β¦. Well thatβs not what the other manager told me β¦ I asked for a refund because she did not offer it β¦. You can tell this is a regular occurrence.. I would have preferred my items over a refund .. how hard it is to make popcorn & give someone the candy ??? Definitely will not be back.β

βI recently visited this AMC location and overall had a mixed experience. First, I want to highlight the staff. Everyone I interacted with was friendly, helpful, and attentive. They were professional and genuinely seemed to enjoy what they were doing, which made a great first impression. The theater itself has a cool vibe, and the seats are very comfortable. However, the reclining felt slightly off and not fully proportional when leaning back. Another thing that stood out was the food tray setup. When the seat was reclined, the tray felt awkwardly positioned and not very accessible. Once the lights went off, the theater became extremely dark, to the point where you could not see your food at all. Many people had to use their phone flashlights just to find their snacks. The biggest disappointment for me was the food options. If I had known in advance, I likely would have chosen a different AMC location. The menu felt more like an Applebeeβs-style dine-in setup rather than a traditional movie theater concession stand. Many classic AMC staples were not available. For example, they did not have regular nachos, only loaded nachos. When I asked if I could just get plain nachos, I was told I would have to order the loaded version and remove the toppings myself, for the same price. That was frustrating. I also tried the buffalo wings and fries, and unfortunately they tasted low quality and underwhelming. Lastly, the entrance to the theater was confusing. It took me about five extra minutes just to figure out where to go. The staff and seating comfort were definite positives, but the food options and layout could use improvement.β

βFOOD POISONING!!!!! I went in for a simple meal before the movie, thinking Iβd treat myselfβ¦ and instead, I walked straight into a nightmare. Not long after the credits rolled, my stomach erupted in agony. Bathroom trips became a horrifying loop, nausea hit like a freight train, and dizziness made me feel like the world was spinning out of control. Two days later, Iβm still suffering this was pure, unrelenting food poisoning. If you value your health, your sanity, or your dignity, stay far away from this place. Trust me, no movie is worth this level of suffering.β
