ATLAS 9 in Kansas City's Legends District is an immersive art experience inside a converted 90s movie theater. Live actors, hidden clues, and a layered narrative unfold across beautifully designed rooms. Rated 100% kid-friendly by reviewers.
Totally worth the visit whether you’re touring the city or looking for something fun to do locally. It’s 100% kid friendly, but it was so much fun going with just adults. The story line is fun and well thought out. The art is beautiful. The actors bring the it all to life and the bar tenders are some of the nicest people I’ve met in kc. If you’re wondering if it’s worth the money 100% yes can’t recommend enough.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families with children ages 7 and up who can engage with a narrative mystery and appreciate immersive environments. The choose-your-own-adventure format rewards curious, exploratory kids. Three-generation groups have specifically highlighted how well it scales across ages.

“This place made me feel like a kid again, this is one of the best places I’ve visited in my life! This place takes you from normal boring day life and places you in an alternate reality filled with secrets and odd encounters.”

“I didn't really know what I was doing the whole time but it was fun to just wander around the place! The live entertainment was great, I loved the actors juat wandering around doing silly things. Unfotunately, I have to express how disappointed I am that there is AI used throughout the project; in the movie posters, in the audio, and even in the emails you can read on the computers. I didn't even notice that they were scanning my face for AI use until it was too late. I would have asked to opt out if I had known. The generated posters didn't even look like me, to the point that I didn't even realize it was using my likeness until I saw my husband's poster come up afterwards. It was very unsettling. I didn't end up solving the puzzles, but I watched my brother finish it- it didn't seem worth the frustration at the time. If you looooove solving puzzles and have plenty of time to spare, maybe you'll like that. One more thing that may not bother other people so much is the use of fog in the entranceway- I cannot stand the smell of fog machines and I was a bit frustrated that we were made to wait in the entryway for quite some time. The best part of this place, for me, is just exploring the area and seeing how it all connects together.”
