This place would be great to visit with family. However, when driving through, some animals come very close to the car, which can feel a little scary. We arrived about 10 minutes before opening and there were already five or six groups ahead of us. Since we went in the morning, it felt less crowded and we were able to enjoy viewing the animals more comfortably from the car.

πŸ† Family Action Verdict

Best for families of any age seeking a close North American wildlife encounter without leaving the car β€” toddlers through grandparents all engage equally. Arrive at opening to beat the crowd buildup that slows the drive-through lane significantly. Use both lanes during the drive-through; most visitors funnel into one, creating unnecessary waits.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

πŸ’‘Arrive right at opening to avoid the vehicle queue that builds quickly
⏰Use both drive-through lanes β€” most visitors don't, which creates avoidable delays
🎟️Pack a hoodie regardless of season β€” the area can be cooler than Phoenix proper
πŸš—Allow time for the Fort Bearizona walk-through section after the drive-through

β€œIf you are in Williams, Arizona, definitely stop here! This place is so cool! The drive-through portion is super fun! We had animals coming right up to the truck! A deer put his head right inside my window! The bears were out and amazing! We saw bison and deer and some smaller animals like otters and raccoons! There’s a really cool restaurant you can eat at that looks like you’re eating inside of a cave! There are several nice gift shops. A few other little drink and food stops along the way. The path is easily walkable. They also do little demonstrations and educational things for kids. Plenty of parking!”

β€œThis place was really fun! The animals were a blast to see, and being able to drive through the park made the whole experience even more unique and exciting. Just be patient β€” it gets very tourist-packed at times, so you’ll have to navigate slower traffic. The coolest part for me was the walk-through section of the zoo. Getting to see all the beautiful animals up close, plus the fun shows they put on, made it even better. And the price was very affordable! Highly recommend for families and anyone who loves animals.”

β€œWhat a special experience! I always wish the animals have more space in their habitats, but Bearizona has larger habitats than many other zoos and sanctuaries I've been to. The drive through portions were really lovely. The vehicles often merged into one lane instead of remaining in two per the road, but for the most part it was respectful driving through the wildlife areas. I love than you can drive through again and again and see different animals each time. This was the perfect weekend adventure.”

Overview

This 160-acre wildlife park west of Williams, Arizona runs a three-mile drive-through where bears, wolves, bison, elk, deer, and smaller animals move freely around vehicles β€” deer and smaller wildlife regularly put their heads inside car windows. Fort Bearizona provides a walk-through section with hands-on experiences and keeper talks. An on-site cave-themed restaurant rounds out the visit. Animals here are rescues living in habitats reviewers describe as larger than most sanctuaries.
