This is a great, local aquarium. Most all fish on exhibit can be found right off the shores of San Diego. They just finished their Living Seas Gallery and it is beautiful. They have a wonderful Zen area where you can sit in comfy chairs, put some headphones that play relaxing music and watch a video tank and just chill. Or they have a room where you can lay back on a big bean bag where you feel submersed underwater while music is playing. It is really amazing! So if you have the time to just sit and relax - do it! They have exibits for the kids to learn about different species and an area in the tide pool exhibit where they can touch them. There is a great outdoor area for a picnic and to just sit and look out on the ocean with an incredible view. I really enjoyed the Seahorse exhibit and the Sea Dragons - they were so cool.

🏆 Family Action Verdict

Perfect for families with curious kids who enjoy hands-on learning experiences. The compact size makes it manageable for all ages, while interactive exhibits like tide pools keep children engaged. Arrive early to beat crowds and allow 2-3 hours for a thorough visit.

“A great little aquarium. We spent about 2.5 hours, taking our time to look at everything. It was bigger than I expected. There were a lot of cool creatures there & even a small outdoor play area for the kids to play, make floating devices and test them out, plus a small touch tank are. My 11yo enjoyed it, I would go again and recommend for small kids & adults. Prices are fair & there's a decent size parking lot. There's a smal gift shop and cafe outside for snacks & coffee. It was clean & there was friendly staff around to ask questions”

“This acquarium is small but it was truly a stand-out! The staff is so enthused to teach and fun! They're all around and were so informative! This acquarium is very well maintained. If you have children or just an inquiring mind, I highly recommend visiting! While you are there, check out the seaport of LaJolla; beautiful and nature filled town.”

“Cute and educational aquarium! The staff were kind and shared interesting facts at the exhibits. The tide pool experience was awesome to be able to touch some of the creatures. Love the octopus and it had great views. Overall I think 2 hours is enough time to visit. Saved $5 a ticket buying tickets online in advance.”
