1 / 3Butterfly Wonderland
đ Scottsdale, AZ
Butterfly Wonderland in Scottsdale houses a tropical rainforest conservatory with hundreds of live butterflies, an emergence chamber to watch butterflies hatch, plus a small aquarium and reptile area. Visitors regularly have butterflies land on them.
Butterfly wonderland was fun! There were so many different kinds of butterflies and they had a room with the chrysalis. I was able to watch four butterflies emerge. I spent an hour and a half just taking pictures and watching the butterflies. So very cool! Unfortunately, their reptile area leaves much to be desired. After looking and looking and looking, I swear they only had critters in every fifth box. If they did have them in there, they're the best camouflage reptiles alive! In the fish room, one of the tanks was downright filthy! I was told that they had just cleaned the algae off the sides and within an hour it was going to be as clean as all the others but it was disappointing. The other tanks were lovely. The gift shop was very nice! A great variety of t-shirts, stuffed animals, toys, and all the things that you look for. Overall, it was a wonderful morning! I highly recommended if you're like me and love butterflies.
đ Family Action Verdict
Best for families with children aged 3 and up who prioritize a magical, intimate nature encounter over broad animal variety. The butterfly emergence chamber and the chance to have butterflies land on you are genuinely memorable. Total visit runs 1.5â2 hours.

âReally enjoy the space so many butterflies flying about. Some landed on me and my husband so we got our good luck butterfly kisses đĻ There is also a small aquarium and reptile area which is nice so you get a little more visit without having to splurge for the aquarium. The Bee are is a bit underwhelming. It is a little pricey, but going on a weekday afternoon, it felt like we had plenty of space to explore without overcrowding.â

âBeautiful facility, could spend the entire day there. Only had about 2 hours and saw everything, and did not feel rushed. If you plan to go, plan a full day and buy a combo ticket for all exhibits together. You get a better price. If you live in AZ an annual pass would be where the most savings would be.â

âSo cool! Its informational and entertaining. I enjoyed the little movie at the start and I sat in the rainforest room for probably 2 hours just enjoying the butterflies. Lovely! I also overheard a couple planning their wedding ceremony there, how cool!!â

Overview
Butterfly Wonderland centers on a large tropical conservatory where hundreds of free-flying butterflies occupy a humid rainforest environment. An emergence chamber shows butterflies hatching from chrysalis in real time. An introductory film covers butterfly lifecycle before entry. A small aquarium and reptile area extend the visit, and reviewers rate these as secondary. Combo tickets bundle additional exhibits for better value. Annual passes suit Arizona residents who plan return visits.
