Connecticut Science Center
π Hartford, NY
Multi-level science museum featuring interactive exhibits across all science disciplines, monthly Toddler Tuesday sessions for ages 6 and under, live animal encounters, a butterfly room, IMAX theater, and birthday party packages.
We planned a New England vacation for the family where we were going to visit all of the states. The only science center we have ever been to was our one back home in Pittsburgh. We wanted to experience what another state and cities science center was like so we put this on the agenda to surprise the kids. It just so happens the day we planned on spending the day at the science center was the same day of the Hartford marathon. We eventually found our way to the science center, but it was a challenge. The science center itself was amazing! The kids really loved all of the exhibits and the building was stunning! We ended up spending the whole day here. We even ate in the cafeteria, which we enjoyed. Itβs sufficed anyhow. Weβre glad that we put this on the agenda and would recommend visiting if youβre in the area and have kids.
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families with children aged 2β12 who engage with hands-on learning. The butterfly room and animal encounters appeal across the full age range, and the four-floor format sustains a full-day visit.

βBeen here several times with my kids. Itβs a fun place for kids of all ages, but especially for school age kids who are curious about learning new things. The building has a cool design and some spectacular views of the river. Each level has a different theme and the staff are always so courteous and helpful. The lady working at the monster drawing tables in the DNA/genetics side of the exhibit was so patient with each kid in explaining the same thing over and over. The staff at the ticketing area were also very helpful in explaining discounts that I never knew I qualified for. Kids and adults can easily spend hours here!β

βWe booked a birthday party for our daughter. Everything was well organized, the staff was very nice and helpful, and kids had so much fun exploring the exhibitions! The package includes the admissions for the next time, so we will definitely take our kids there again to play! A little warning: the traditional birthday candles are not allowed! So think about the alternatives. We found the LED candle with a remote, so I made it turn off when my daughter blew it.β

βCT Science Center is located in Hartford and is a hands on science museum. There are many exhibits in all the science fields that you can explore; it's also for all ages too. My favorite was the butterfly encounter; there is a room just for butterflies and they do land on you. There is a parking garage available. There are 4 levels open to the public. My family and I enjoyed the exhibits. There were plenty to keep us all busy. My children enjoyed the play kitchen, dinosaurs, and butterflies. Blue Chip Creamery is also located there. I highly recommend it and can't wait to go back soon.β
