“Took my two granddaughters there yesterday after visiting the King center which was closed by the time we got there, so we headed across the street behind the visitor center, which is where the playground is. It's a decent playground, it was very clean except for an overflowing trash can right outside the playground Gates but the girls enjoyed the whole thing. Only issue... I think there should be bathrooms somewhere as they both had to go and we had to leave. Probably when the historical museum and visitor center are back open you could probably use bathrooms there.”

“Took my nieces here after being at the MLK exhibit across the street. To start there weren't any bathrooms nearby I started to leave because if they had to go their fun was over. Also as long as it's been up they could add things to make it more memorable as well as enjoyable for kids. Other than that it was cool that's why three stars cause it can improve and had room for it.”

Overview

Positioned directly across from the MLK National Historic Site and behind the visitor center, this playground serves families who make a day of Atlanta's Sweet Auburn district. Reviewers note it as a decent, clean play area — and an overflowing trash can and absence of nearby bathrooms are recurring friction points. The cultural context makes it a meaningful stop for families combining education and play in a single outing. Equipment is functional for a range of young ages.
