Amazing park. Went early around 11am for a picnic on Easter. We were able to find parking and a spot really easily. It's home to a variety of wildlife, including geese, ducks, and other birds. The park is also well-maintained, with green grass, trees, and flowers. Pros: Beautiful scenery Variety of wildlife Well-maintained Free Cons: Can be crowded Can be noisy Limited parking Overall, this is a great and expansive park that will fit most of your needs. Just expect a big crowd on holidays!

Very large park with walking path. This park is huge. It has a very long walking path throughout the park. There is also a large lake with ducks, geese, etc. I like this park but I don't like the drive to the park. The park is in a very congested area. Every time I have driven to this park I have been stuck in traffic. Also this park can be very busy with a huge volume of people. I have went to this park in the early morning, in the evening after work and on the weekends and it has always been crowded. When the walking path is too crowded, I have tried to walk on the grass. Some grassy areas of the park is wet mud. Not fun to walk in. Unfortunately the grass is not well maintained at this park. Many areas contain no grass, just dirt or mud. So this is a wonderful park, but not one of my favorites. Although most people give this park very high ratings. Note my pics of the park were taken when I took time off from work mid week so the park was not crowded.

Overview

Earvin Magic Johnson Recreation Area spans a large urban footprint with two lakes, long looping walking paths, and abundant wildlife including ducks, geese, and other birds. Picnic areas offer shaded grass under mature trees. Facilities are well-maintained and free to enter, with parking on site. The surrounding road network is congested — factor in extra travel time. Some grassy areas become muddy after rain.
