Part of the Smithsonian's National Zoo on Connecticut Ave NW, Elephant Trails is a multi-acre habitat designed around the behavioral needs of Asian elephants. Families can observe the herd from multiple vantage points including underwater viewing windows and elevated overlooks. The wider zoo campus is free to enter and includes hundreds of additional species. Elephant Trails itself features keeper demonstrations and educational signage throughout.
