1 / 2Farm Sanctuary
π Acton, CA
Non-profit farm sanctuary on 39 acres in Acton, home to approximately 100 rescued cows, pigs, chickens, and turkeys. Hour-long guided tours share each animal's rescue story. Private tours available for groups up to 8.
The Farm Sanctuary staff provides an amazing, memorable experience. We enjoyed a private tour. We heard about the animals and their stories. Our guide, Ian, was engaging and thoughtful. (He gives you the 411 on chicken etiquette, and tips on how to greet or be greeted by the animals.) When you visit, you'll see goats, pigs, sheep, cows, donkeys, chickens, roosters and turkeys, as well as a llama from afar. We appreciate the staff and volunteers who make the Farm Sanctuary a peaceful spot for everyone. Remember to visit the gift shop. There are so many shirts, hoodies, gifts and more to bring back warm memories of your trip!
π Family Action Verdict
Best for animal-loving families who want an educational experience with clear animal welfare and vegan advocacy messaging woven throughout. Guides are knowledgeable and thoughtful with school-age children. Vegan advocacy is an integral part of the educational content β families should expect and welcome this framing.

βFarm Sanctuary in Acton, CA is a peaceful and caring place that really stands out. The workers are friendly and know so much about each animal, you can tell they truly care. Itβs a great spot for anyone who loves animals and wants to learn more about how farms can be kinder. The animals here are well taken care of and you get to see them up close in a safe and respectful way. I think more people should visit and support this place because it shows a better side of farming and teaches you a lot.β

βThis was one of the highlights of my year. Having the opportunity to be up close to the animals was a blessing. It really put things in perspective for me, and it made me proud to be a vegan. The animals looked so happy in the sanctuary and that happiness definitely rubbed off on their guests! It was refreshing to see the animals treated so well and with such respect. I highly recommend visiting the sanctuary and bringing friends and family with you.β
