📍 Westchester, CA
Community aviation museum at LAX with commercial aircraft displays, airline uniform collections, live air traffic control audio, and optional tarmac access for plane spotting. Kids enter free; on-site parking available.
Visited this place twice. First because our kid was into aviation and the place surprised me because it was spacious, displays of different commercial aircraft and various flight attendant uniforms from different airlines. Only the adults get to pay for only $5 and yes kids come in free and parking area is also spacious. Staff is amazing. The 2nd visit we had we decided to take our kid’s closest friends as part of his birthday celebration. The kids had so much fun because there were volunteers who took them outside and shared some history about the airport and surrounding area and they also get to wear mini high-visibility safet vests. Totally recommend for a mini field trip!
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Aviation-interested children from about age 5 up respond strongly to this museum — the tarmac access for live plane spotting is a standout experience unavailable at most aviation museums. Volunteer staff are knowledgeable and enthusiastic, and the free kids admission keeps the visit accessible.

“Some of the nicest staff in the world, they are all volunteers and are really knowledgable in aviation. They can let you on to the tarmac and go planespotting. If you try to run, the staff will probably tackle you. Never knew an airline called viva aerobus. Has a really cool livery and uses A320-200. The museum is split up with many plane models and flight attendant uniforms. One of the staff enjoyed flying PSA, which merged to US Airways, which merged to AA, which back then was in bankruptcy. The museum is also located at the old general aviation terminal and next to 2 cargo stands. The cargo stands had recieved AN124 arrivals before due to the Boeing facility nearby.”

“I visited a couple of weeks ago and can’t stop thinking about how much I loved this museum. I’ve always loved commercial aviation; everything from the aircraft, airline paint schemes, and that excitement of jetting off to different parts of the world. The exhibits are very well presented, and there’s a lot to see. The volunteers are so very friendly and made the experience even more enjoyable. I’m contemplating becoming a member just so I can pop in anytime and soak in all this museum has to offer.”
