“This is my first year as a member of the Village of Floral Park pool and as we near the end of the season I have mixed feelings. The pool itself is beautiful with lots of space and clean water. The staff is friendly and they keep things running nicely. Those are the pros. On the con side, it cost me a whopping $285 for a single person membership and in mid August, they reduced the pool hours, starting later and ending earlier. My biggest complaint, however, is that as a member I am allowed to bring a guest for the day at a reasonable cost of $15, UNLESS my guest happens to live in the Village of Floral Park. This means I can take a perfect stranger who lives in Queens, the Bronx, Suffolk County, etc., as a guest, but I can’t take my own son, or daughter, or wife because they live with me in Floral Park. I find this utterly absurd. Then again, if you live in Floral Park, you’re probably not that surprised. As I’ve learned over the past three years, the Village has overly restrictive rules for everything.”
