Great playground. The kids love the climbing structures and the zipline. There are a variety of options for the kids to play and the turf is a nice touch. Lots of parking, and I noticed there are bathrooms up this year- very excited about that, as the porta-potty at one end of the parking lot was difficult to navigate with more than one young child.

🏆 Family Action Verdict

Excellent for families with school-age kids who want more than a basic playground. The zipline and climbing variety hold older children's attention longer than typical setups. Families can extend the visit into the broader park's museum, trails, and sports facilities.

Overview

Set inside Hodge Park — Kansas City's second-largest at over 1,000 acres — this playground punches above its weight with a zipline, multiple climbing structures, and a turf surface that stays cleaner than grass. Permanent bathrooms were recently added, replacing an old porta-potty. Parking is plentiful. The surrounding park offers the Shoal Creek Living History Museum, a golf course, and pickleball courts, making it a full-day destination for families.
