1 / 3House of Wonder
📍 Brooklyn, NY
Scandinavian-inspired indoor play cafe in Brooklyn with dedicated zones for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers up to age 6. Specialty coffee, strong Wi-Fi, and clear sightlines throughout.
This place is an absolute dream for caregivers of small children. It's beautiful and clean, and the owners clearly put so much work into making the space equally inviting for both children and adults. Earlier this week I was thinking of joining a gym just so I could have somewhere with babysitting services while I do a couple of hours of work, but House of Wonder is 1000x better! Update: I've been a regular for a month now; my favorite things about the space: -Tripp Trapp high chairs and baby-friendly snacks available at the cafe. -AMAZING bathroom with lots of options--child-sized toilet, family restroom, comfortable and sturdy changing tables. -The play space is age inclusive AND uncluttered. A lot of indoor play spaces with toys get so cluttered, which is both overstimulating for the kids and stressful for parents who are trying to keep choking hazards away from babies. House of Wonder found so many great ways to give older kids lots of options while still keeping it safe for babies. -It is always so clean! It's the only public space I've been to where my babies can crawl around on the floor for hours without getting filthy knees and feet.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for working parents of children aged 0-4 who need a space where they can actually be productive as their child plays safely in view. The Nordic design and quality cafe elevate the experience well above standard soft-play venues. Capacity fills fast — check availability before leaving home and plan for potential waits during peak periods.

“Excellent space to actually get work done or even just relax while your kids are playing! 10/10 — the play area is safe, beautiful, organized, in plain view - so you can relax and let the kids play without worrying. You can charge your laptop and sit at tables or close to your little on in the play area. Also a fantastic option for when it’s raining but you just want to get out of the house.”

“Such a fun themed playspace, just what the neighborhood needed. They also have a full service café and free wifi. Staff was friendly and attentive. Seems geared towards a younger crowd, both my kids aged 2 & 4 yr old had a blast, I couldn’t get them to leave.”

“House of Wonder is special and a beautiful place for children to enjoy play while parents monitor. The food and beverages we’ve tried have all been very good. On the other hand, availability to enter is unpredictable. The first time we visited we lucked up by getting there early but we witnessed a dozen parents / caregivers standing in line with their little ones in the cold only to be turned away because the space was at capacity. They then implemented member-only reservations, a live status system, and a waitlist you can join but only if you arrive in person. On our second visit we checked the live status which was set at moderate and by the time we got there 5 minutes later the space was at capacity. We were asked to join a 20 minute waitlist. On our third visit we arrived at opening and the space was slow compared to other weekends but this was also a holiday where weekend where seemingly many families are traveling. The system where availability can change rapidly leaving parents and children waiting or trying to figure out how to fill the wait time does not always work well. The place should consider being members-only or reservations only. Members could be given priority up to a certain time (e.g. members can book into play and benefit from priority up to 24 hours before the play date) while drop-in availability may not be available until midnight or morning of the play date. Walk right up and walk right in as they advertise is not always an option but there are other play spaces close by which are. As HoW continue to become popular, now is a good time to implement a working system before stressed parents decide it isn’t worth it to chance being turned away.”
