1 / 2IMAX at AMC Norwalk 20
ð Norwalk, CA
Large multiplex theater conveniently located off Imperial Highway with plenty of nearby dining options. The regular theaters are modern, but the IMAX experience is outdated with older projection technology.
The AMC is huge and right off the freeway and major street (Imperial). There are a ton of restaurants and other spots to hit up before or after to grab a bite. The theater itself is really nice. The concessions are awesome. They have separate lines for cash and debit to move things along faster. The screens to order are touch screen and makes it a lot easier to order. Everything is really organized. The seats in the theaters recline like most do nowadays I guess. There is a parking garage right across the street which is convenient. If it wasn't so far from my house I would go there way more often.
ð Family Action Verdict
Best for families prioritizing convenience over premium viewing experience. The location near Imperial Highway with nearby restaurants makes it practical for family outings, but consider regular theaters over IMAX due to outdated technology and uncomfortable seating. May not be suitable for families with accessibility needs.

âParking is tricky. Some chair backrests have been wobbly.â

âI chose the IMAX option here for the Oppenheimer movie. The concessions area is great. They have self serve kiosks and the fountain drinks are on the outside of the counter so you can get free refills. The soda dispensers are they type where you can choose different flavors too. The IMAX theater itself is super outdated though. The chairs are your basic cloth upholstered kind and don't recline. I found the seats to be pretty tight, but I'm also a wider than average dude.â

âThis IMAX hasn't been upgraded to 4K laser projection and 12-channel sound, so it's stuck with 1080p xenon projection and 6-channel sound. (The nearest upgraded IMAX is either Regal Long Beach or Regal South Gate) The seats are also very uncomfortable and you can easily feel the slightest movements of people several seats to your left or right. Dolby Cinema has dual 4K HDR laser projection (2.39:1 aspect ratio for Norwalk; 1.85:1 aspect ratio at AMC Tustin, AMC Del Amo, or AMC South Bay Galleria), object-based sound, and luxury recliners that rumble; it will provide a better experience in most cases.â

Overview
AMC Norwalk 20 is a large multiplex cinema featuring 20 screens, modern concessions, and convenient freeway access off Imperial Highway. While the regular theaters offer a solid viewing experience, the IMAX theater uses older 1080p xenon projection rather than upgraded 4K laser technology, and has reportedly uncomfortable seating.
