1 / 2Jacksonville's "Hands On" Children's Museum
π Southside, FL
Jacksonville's 'Hands On' Children's Museum is a 501(c)3 nonprofit on Beach Blvd offering tactile, technology-free exhibits for young children. The museum hosts field trips, birthday parties, and offers memberships.
We go once a week, during the week, around lunchtime and it's not crowded then. I hope they don't upgrade anything, because right now it's nostalgic, reminds me of my childhood, and there's no technology. I've also had good interactions with other parents who visit here. The staff is nice and helpful. It gets messy from time to time, as expected, and the crowds are after school, weekends, and whenever school is out. The toddler room is good for kids 3 and under since some of the other stations are for older kids. We always have a blast and it's hard to leave because of how much fun we have. I have a year long membership which is definitely recommended if you plan on coming regularly.
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families with children ages 1β6 who want unstructured, imaginative play without screens. Weekday midday visits are the least crowded and most enjoyable. Regular visitors who become members tend to build it into their weekly routine. Parents seeking a tech-free environment will find the low-fi setup is the point.

βI took my daughter in to play on a Saturday morning and was so disappointed! It was our first visit and it will sadly be our last. This place has so much potential, but it is dirty, germy and outdated. They had a huge bug (ant) problem. GROSS. I informed a worker about a ginormous pile of ants in the under 3 play area. She confirmed sheβs aware of the ants and said itβs been an issue for quite sometime.. and then walked away. The baseboards look like they havenβt been touched in a few years and everything just looked so germy! Wouldnβt recommend :(β
