Set on Lake Lanier less than an hour from Atlanta, Fins Up Water Park opens in May with high-speed slides, a wave pool, kids' splash zones, and lakeside cabanas.
Great place for relaxing
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families with kids of mixed ages during the summer water park season β younger children have dedicated splash zones and the wave pool suits older kids and teens. Pontoon rentals add a flexible lake day option outside the park. Overnight glamping extends the trip into a full weekend.

βAttended a birthday party on a yacht. The captain and crew were amazing. The atmosphere on the lake was calm and relaxing. The view of the surroundings from the water was amazing. Awesome experience! I will be returning to enjoy all the other amenities offered here including the Waterpark and the beautiful scenery!β

βA quick search shows this resort brings in $22M+ a year, but they clearly aren't spending it on hospitality training. I came for a 'change in latitude,' but Richard at the front gate gave me a major attitude. For a brand that's supposed to be the capital of 'no worries,' Richard is quite literally the 'Problem in Paradise.' Donβt be a Richard; hire a greeter who actually likes people.β

Margaritaville at Lanier Islands combines a seasonal water park with year-round lake recreation. Fins Up Water Park features high-speed slides, raging rapids, a wave pool, and dedicated splash areas for younger kids. Off the water, pontoon boat rentals let families cruise Lake Lanier independently. LandShark Bar & Grill anchors the dining options, and Camp Margaritaville provides RV sites, tiny cabins, and glamping tent cottages for overnight stays. The resort is roughly 45 minutes from Atlanta.
