1 / 2Mayfair Pool Recreation Swim
📍 Lakewood, CA
Community pool in Lakewood offering swimming lessons and water aerobics alongside open swim sessions. Cash-only entry. Proper swimwear required — no board shorts or tank tops. Hours subject to private bookings.
Clean pool. Nice staff. Small wait to get in but that's not on them, it's just so popular. For $3 for non-local residents, this is a great way to spend 1.5hrs.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families comfortable with structured pool rules and traditional swimwear requirements. The clean water and accessible pricing make it a solid summer option. Call ahead to confirm open swim availability before visiting — private events can close sessions without online notice. Bring cash.

“Mayfair Park has a lot of activities during the summer. You can take swimming lessons or water aerobics. There are pool hours where you can just swim.”

“Terrible experience. First the hours listed in the website are wrong. They open at 1pm. We were there at 10 am. Second, they only accept cash, nothing on their website indicated this. I had to drive to an ARM. Third, “Proper swimsuits” must be worn. I brought my two daughters with me, who were wearing swim trunks and tank tops. This was not suitable??? I was unaware Mayfair was representing the United States in swim attire. They acted like we were wearing denim and polo shirts. First and last time.”

“Staff so strict that my son got yelled at just for jumping head first and my daughter got yelled at for being too close to my son”
