1 / 3Minnesota Climbing Cooperative
đ Logan Park, MN
The Twin Cities' only bouldering co-op, run by volunteers in the historic Thorp Building. Open hours on Sundays and Mondays welcome first-timers; access pass holders climb 24/7. Free rental shoes available.
People seemed friendly enough, but space is quite small (the pictures make it look bigger than it actually is), some of the routes go quite high and are scary to downclimb from (few dedicated downclimbing holds), amenities very limited. Sure if you can only climb at really weird times or just have money to throw around, maybe this place makes sense. Probably could get away with taking your shirt off at quieter hours if you're looking for that. But overall, I was left with a feeling this was not worth the activation fee + around $55/month for a membership (depending on how long you want to commit). The larger climbing gyms are more money yes, but not all that much more, and give you much more bang for your buck.
đ Family Action Verdict
Best for older kids and teens who are comfortable with height and downclimbing. Younger or beginner children should visit during staffed open hours rather than off-peak. The compact space and tall routes suit families with at least some prior bouldering exposure.

Overview
Minnesota Climbing Cooperative is a member-owned bouldering gym tucked inside NE Minneapolis's Thorp Building. All proceeds reinvest back into the space. Drop-in during Sunday and Monday open hours to try a day pass or sign up for monthly or annual access. Annual pass holders get a key fob for round-the-clock entry. Routes skew tall, so downclimbing confidence matters. Free shoe rentals ease the barrier for first visits. A minor policy is in place for under-18 climbers.
