1 / 3Montclair State Ice Arena
π Little Falls Township, NY
University ice arena offering skating lessons, youth hockey programs, and public skating sessions. Great facility with helpful staff, though weekends can get crowded with younger children.
The ice skating arena at Montclair University is a great spot for skating enthusiasts! The facility is clean, well-maintained, and has a welcoming atmosphere. The staff is friendly and helpful, making the experience enjoyable for everyone. Itβs a fantastic place for hockey players, as itβs primarily used for hockey practice and games. However, the ice can be a bit rough at times due to its heavy hockey use. There are limited public skate times during the week, so I recommend checking the schedule online as itβs updated frequently. Purchasing the membership pass is a great valueβit saves you money and can also be used for the fun Friday DJ Night public skate events. If you plan to use the lockers, be sure to bring quarters. The arena also has plenty of vending machines, sells easy-to-eat food items, and even has a great ice cream machine on-site. Overall, itβs a fun and lively spot for skatingβjust plan ahead for public skate times!
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families with skating-enthusiastic kids who can visit weekdays when it's less crowded. Great starting point for children interested in hockey with excellent coaching programs. Avoid weekends due to dangerous overcrowding with young children.

βIβm going to this rink for several months now almost every day for skating lessons and public skating sessions. The public skating sessions are great during the weekdays. Thereβs not much people and sometimes itβs empty! As you see in picture. But the weekends itβs really over crowded! I recommend not to go on weekends. Itβs full of little kids that hitting you. Very dangerous. There are free style sessions for professional skaters who donβt want to go to crowded public sessions too. The group skating lessons are great if there are less than 4-5 people in the group. Sometimes there are 10-12 people which is too much for one couch to handle. In that case doesnβt worth the money. The coaches are great though! The ice is well maintained and they keep it cold and nice. Parking and location is nice too. Overall itβs good to go there.β

βI took my family here for public skating. The place is clean for the most part. It wasn't too crowded at all for a Saturday public skate in December. The staff was great.β
