Movement Rockville
π Rockville, MD
Movement Rockville at 725 Rockville Pike offers bouldering and rope climbing across a large facility, alongside yoga and fitness classes. Membership includes unlimited climbing at all Movement locations. Youth programs and beginner clinics available.
While it's an excellent rock climbing gym overall, they don't have adequate air-conditioning or just don't want to spend money on it. It's hard to breathe in the Earth Treks Rockville facility during the hot summer. Air conditioners and fans are inadequate. The only breathable location is near the entrance where, surprisingly, staff spend time. Otherwise it is a great and friendly place with good climbing walls, a bouldering area and a general gym.
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families with kids aged 8 and up who want structured progression in climbing skills. Beginner clinics and youth programs give kids a structured entry point. Adult members can climb independently as kids are in programs. Summer heat inside the facility is a real factor β schedule visits during cooler parts of the day in July and August.

βLove movement gyms and have been a member for 3 years. Today was my first negative experience, and first experience with the yoga. I signed up for a class and on the website it mentions a 5 minute grace period. Wonderful. I arrive at 7:01 (thanks Rockville pike) and find that the door to the studio is closed. It explicitly states not to enter, so I head to the front desk and wait in line to be helped. There is only one staff member at the front, so this takes a minute. At 7:05 exact, Iβm told that I can no longer enter the class. That I βneed to be more prompt for yinβ Disappointing for sure, but now Iβve been deterred from future yoga classes here. Iβm getting a very snooty, gate-keepy vibe that I am not here for. Whatβll be judged next, my less than stellar tree pose?β
