1 / 2Palisadium Swim & Gym
π Cliffside Park, NY
Swimming facility with competitive swim lessons, gym equipment, and birthday party options. Parents praise instruction quality but report maintenance issues.
It's the cleanest, most well-maintained gym I've ever been to, with polite and respectful staff and decent members. The pool is always clean, as are the sauna and steam rooms. Some people have left negative reviews, but last year they were given a free one-month membership, but some were caught trying to sneak in after their membership expired. I suspect the other negative reviews were due to the revocation of memberships for those who tried to enter the pool sweaty from the sauna without showering, or for those who spit in the pool, blow their noses, behave disrespectfully, or disobey the rules. I've been coming here for over three years, and other than those I mentioned, I haven't encountered anyone with a complaint. Ms. Juya, who manages this business, is extremely committed to her work and cleanliness, and she insists on strict adherence to the rules. Naturally, it's difficult to please everyone. She also offers highly successful swimming lessons for children. Ms. Juya's sons teach swimming to children ages 8-12, and their students have won three gold medals from the state of NJ. It is a great feeling to see happy and successful children and their families around me.
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families specifically seeking competitive swim lessons for children ages 8-12, as the instructors have proven success. However, serious concerns about facility maintenance, mold, and management issues make this a risky choice for general family swimming and fitness activities.

βBeen coming here since March with my family. So far great experience. Never have to wait to get a machine or free weights. The views are great while you get a workout. Overall pretty good gym.β

βmonthly member. I really like the crowd that comes here but management really needs to do something about the ventilation. starting from last winter, the condensation in the gym area (because the pool door is always open) is so bad itβs technically a safety hazard (imagine so much condensation on the stair machine that you can just slip and fall). and this summer, the mold in the changing room and shower area is scary to look at. There is so much mold itβs seeping out from the walls and ceilings. and I have never seen a cleaner. do they even have a cleaner? or is it just dependent on the members that are neat ? if itβs not for the pool I would have cancelled long long long ago..β

βThe pool itself is decent, but the overall experience has been frustrating. Iβve visited three times and there was no hot shower water any of those timesβand itβs January. After swimming, thatβs really not okay. The facility also has a strong high-school gym vibe, especially since the pool is closed every day from 3:30β7:30pm for teen swim training. Between the schedule limitations and the cold showers, it genuinely feels like an old school locker room setup rather than a proper adult gym. This seems more like a youth swim facility than a place designed for regular adult lap swimmers. Iβm only here because itβs the only option nearby, but Iβd switch immediately if there were alternatives. If anyone knows a better swimming gym in Edgewater or Palisades Park, please share.β
