1 / 3Paragon Carousel
π Hull, MA
One of fewer than 100 grand carousels left in the US, the Paragon Carousel features 66 hand-carved wooden horses, 2 Roman Chariots, and a live Wurlitzer band organ. Operates weekends on Nantasket Beach.
It's such a timeless favorite for children. Parents know that this visit will be a fun family activity for up to an hour or two. As you get older, though, you realize it's an historic marker and we're so lucky that a generation ago a group of people banded together to save the carousel for future generations.
π Family Action Verdict
Best for toddlers through early elementary kids who love classic rides, and for parents seeking a genuinely historic outing. Birthday parties are hosted on-site with staff support. Pairs naturally with the adjacent beach and playground for a longer half-day visit.

βEveryone should ride the paragon carousel once in their lives. Itβs been beautifully restored and it feels like apart of the past that will take you back to when you were younger. Cindy and the staff are amazing, extremely friendly, and welcoming when you visit. Highly recommended checking out the carousel if youβre visiting Hull or in the area.β

βWe love it here! It's fun to visit with little kids and then go across the street to the playground/beach. We had my son's 4th birthday party here, and it couldn't have been easier or more fun. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a classic little birthday party. The staff made my guy feel so special!β

Overview
Built in 1928 by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company, this nonprofit-run carousel is the sole surviving attraction from the original Paragon Park. Sixty-six intricately carved wooden horses, two Roman Chariots, 36 cherubs, 18 goddesses, and 35 original paintings fill the pavilion. A Wurlitzer band organ plays throughout every ride. The facility hosts birthday parties and includes an on-site restoration studio open for viewing. The beach and a public playground sit directly across the street.
