“I’ve been skating at this rink for a long time — actually played here in college about 15 years ago — and it’s tough to see it heading in the wrong direction instead of improving. There’s no real pro shop presence, which is surprising for a facility hosting youth hockey and jamborees. That’s something most comparable rinks offer and it makes a difference for families and teams. The ice itself has been inconsistent. There are visible roof leaks that clearly impact the surface, and you can feel it during games. That’s not just cosmetic — it affects play and safety. The bathrooms are in serious need of renovation. When you compare them to local facilities like The Igloo or the Flyers Training Center, the gap is noticeable. Those rinks have clearly invested in upkeep and presentation. During the last jamboree we attended, scheduling was chaotic. It felt disorganized, and that kind of experience sticks with families and teams. The frustrating part is that there are genuinely good people working there. You can tell the staff cares — they just don’t seem to have the resources or support needed to make the rink what it could be. With proper investment and planning, this facility has the potential to be much better than it currently is. Right now, though, it feels like it’s sliding backward instead of forward.”
