1 / 3Planet Rock Climbing Gym
📍 Grand Rapids, MI
Planet Rock Grand Rapids offers bouldering, auto belay, and top rope walls plus yoga and a weight room. Youth day passes available for ages 14 and under. Beginner Starter Packages and family memberships offered.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families with children aged 8 and up who want structured introduction to climbing. The free Climbing 101 class with day pass is the lowest-commitment entry point. Belay lessons are offered for those progressing to top rope. Music volume on the floor has drawn some complaints-worth knowing for sound-sensitive kids.

“This gym rocks! We had a group come in & the staff was wonderful. They gave us a very thorough belay lesson & ensured our new climbers felt confident and safe up on the wall. Can't wait to come back. 10/10 recommend.”

“Love the bouldering area and the auto belay walls wish there were a few more though!”

“It’s ok but nothing more. The walls are blank, no structure to use just holds. Some routes are negativ but there is nor real overhang because of the missing structure panels. Loud music is blaring all the time making it impossible to communicate with your climbing partner if they’re up the wall. Wish they would invest more into the wall panels. The price is steep enough.”
