Playground
📍 Old Town West, VA
Small neighborhood playground on Buchanan St in Alexandria. Surrounded by a quiet residential setting. No shade structures — surfaces heat up significantly on sunny days, making early morning the best visiting window.
Nice playground surrounded by a beautiful, peaceful neighborhood.!!
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for toddlers and young kids during cooler morning hours or on overcast days. Families visiting on warm sunny afternoons should expect hot equipment surfaces — slides in particular become unsafe. A good local stop in autumn and winter when heat is not a factor.

“We visited this park on a warm and sunny day in April but there was absolutely no way my son could play due to everything being BURNING HOT! There is no shade whatsoever and this is CRUCIAL! My son went down the slide and screamed because of how much it burned.”

Overview
This compact Alexandria playground sits in a calm residential neighborhood and works well for quick local visits. The surrounding environment is peaceful and walkable. The critical caveat: zero shade structures mean metal slides and equipment absorb serious heat on warm sunny days, creating a burn risk for younger children. Reviewers also flagged some equipment in need of repair. Early-morning visits before surfaces heat up are strongly recommended from late spring through summer.
