1 / 2San Antonio Aquarium
đ Far West Side, TX
Interactive aquarium experience featuring hands-on animal encounters, stingray touch tanks, and exotic mammals like sloths and lemurs. Popular with families wanting more than traditional aquarium viewing.
My husband and I enjoyed our time here. You will get up and so close to nature! I touched stingrays!! Wow. Do not forget to go to the outside enclosure it's like being in a Tropical forest!! The staff offered to take pictures when they were available and definitely was well informed on the habitats also. Everything is at your pace and leisure. There is places to sit to rest and a huge game room!! Enjoy
đ Family Action Verdict
Best for families seeking hands-on animal encounters rather than traditional aquarium viewing. Great for teens and adventurous kids who want to touch stingrays and feed animals. However, budget for extra activity fees and manage expectations around facility appearance.

âThis is my go to spot whenever I'm in town. I got to speak to the gentleman who made a back brace for the penguin and it was super delightful to speak to him. I was feeling pretty low on some life situations that had just happened to me and he had no idea and was such a positive person and really had an impact with the conversation I had. Much love will be back to feed the sting rays!â

âThis place is so much fun! We have brought a group of 40 teens to this place twice now. (Keep in mind these are well-behaved teens) They love seeing all the animals and getting to pet some of them! It's a neat place! And a lot bigger than you first think.â

âOverall the visit to the San Antonio Aquarium was good. The facility is dated and needs some serious renovations and updating. I also think some of the enclosures for the animals could be better. However there was more opportunity to interact with and/or feed animals then I have seen at most aquariums. I also liked that they had bounce houses for the kids to expend some energy.â
