1 / 3Sno-King Ice Arena
๐ Kingsgate, WA
Sno-King Ice Arena in Kirkland anchors a three-location network offering public skating, figure skating, hockey leagues, stick-and-puck drop-ins, and a Family Intro class where parents skate alongside young children.
We booked a private birthday event here and had an odd experience. Before getting on the ice, we were told by the front desk that using sticks and pucks would be allowed since it was a private rental and ultimately up to the person paying for the event. However, once we were on the ice, the Zamboni driver came over and told us we couldnโt use them. Even more strange, was that he didnโt even seem confident about enforcing the rule and asked me โwhy I didnโt go to the stick and puck before and if I was crashing the eventโ ??? Wonโt be using this facility in the future for events.
๐ Family Action Verdict
The Family Intro class is the standout for parents with young children who want to skate together rather than watch from the boards. Older kids ready for independent lessons or hockey should check the structured program schedule. Parents should verify coaching availability for beginner-level group lessons before enrolling.

โI struggled to find value in the coaching classes at this ice skating arena. My child didn't learn anything meaningful throughout the program. The instructors focused almost exclusively on returning students and largely ignored newcomers like my child. The teaching approach was problematic. Instead of creating a fun, encouraging learning environment, the instructors yelled and showed little interest in how new students were progressing. They need better training on how to engage with children and make skating enjoyable while teaching fundamentals. My child only enjoyed the first and last classes. I suspect the final class was taught well specifically to encourage re-enrollment. The classes fill up quickly, which is frustrating given the poor quality of instruction. This program is not worth the money. I cannot recommend it unless you're prepared for your child to repeat the same level two or three times before actually learning the skillsโthey certainly won't learn them the first time through. The rink itself is nice, though. No complaints there.โ

โIโve been trying to reach the front desk since yesterday, but they never pick up or call back. Even during their public skate hours today, thereโs still no response. Itโs incredibly inconvenient and frustrating.โ
