1 / 2Southwest Playground
π The Bronx, NY
Family-friendly Bronx playground featuring sprinklers, swings, slides and excellent safety features. Perfect for young children, though summer visits can be crowded with camp groups.
This park is actually really pleasant to take your children. Sat here with my daughter all day
π Family Action Verdict
Best suited for families with young children who can visit during off-peak times. The playground offers excellent safety features and variety, but summer visits require patience due to camp groups and crowds. Morning visits or after 6pm provide the best experience with easier parking and fewer crowds.

βFor families with young children, the park is great depending on the season. During the summer, camps and large groups descend upon the park. It gets extremely crowded and the swings can be taken for hours. Fortunately the park has soft padding for safety. There are various types of equipment and play stations. Nearby is a Rite Aid and vendors sell water and hot dogs close to the park. A hundred yards away is a rubber track for track athletes with a soccer and football field. Official use is by permit only. A few hundred yards away is a baseball field. On the weekends and during the week, parking is difficult. In the mornings, parking is easier. On Van Cortlandt Ave, parking is free after 6 pm during the week. During the summer and spring these are great hours to visit the park if the weather is agreeable. There is a pool area not too far that is open during the summer from June 28 to Labor Day.β

βTerrific park for the kids. Sprinklers, swings, slides. Family friendly atmosphere. Ice cream truck (which sells hot dogs also) right at the entrance.β

βWhy is the southwest playground closed on one of the nicest first of the season days of the year when itβs been open for the past 2 months but too cold for any kids to want to be here??? You couldnβt get the things done that needed doing then right? Had to wait until people actually want to be here. Literally genius.β
