Suitland Bowl is a vintage duckpin bowling alley — one of only two in the DC metro area. It hosts birthday parties, youth leagues, and open bowling sessions with shoe rental included in the hourly rate.

Great owners! Perfect for kids. Small balls. Only two like it in thr DC area

🏆 Family Action Verdict

Best for kids ages 4 and up who can handle a smaller duckpin ball — the lighter weight makes it far more manageable than standard bowling for young children. Birthday party groups up to large 5th-grade class sizes have been hosted here successfully. The vintage atmosphere is charming for adults; kids simply enjoy the novelty of the format.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

We hosted a group of 5th graders here this evening and there was one man working the front of house and he did it all! He was patient, made food suggestions for us and the place was very clean. It’s a blast from the past and a lot of fun! Don’t be scared off by the facade, it’s a gem!

Suitland Bowl is like stepping back in time—a true bowling alley time capsule with plenty of character. I attended a birthday party here and the service was friendly and welcoming, which made the experience enjoyable. The food, however, left a lot to be desired; nothing stood out as memorable. Still, the atmosphere, fun vibe, and friendly staff make it a solid spot for a casual outing or celebration.

Overview

Duckpin bowling uses smaller balls and shorter pins than standard tenpin, making it naturally accessible for younger kids who struggle with heavier conventional balls. Suitland Bowl has operated for decades and retains its retro character — reviewers describe it as a 'time capsule.' The facility hosts birthday parties, fall and summer leagues including youth divisions, and open bowling.
