This lovely park in Culver City is not too big, not too small, just the right size to enjoy. Here you will find kids playground, picnic tables, a baseball field, a tennis court, 2 pickle ball courts and restroom. There are many parking spaces in the park and more on nearby streets.

πŸ† Family Action Verdict

Best for families with children of mixed ages β€” the separate preschool and older-kid play areas prevent crowding and size mismatches. The no-dog grass policy makes picnics genuinely relaxed. The sports courts give active older kids and adults additional options.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

πŸ’‘Arrive before evening baseball games to secure a BBQ spot and shaded picnic table
⏰No dogs permitted on grass areas β€” the lawn is reliably clean for picnics and free play
🎟️Use the park as a Ballona Creek Bike Path rest stop if cycling from Playa del Rey
πŸš—The preschool and 5+ play zones are physically separated β€” useful for families with a wide age spread

β€œA really good park where you can come get active. Good community of people playing soccer, basketball, baseball, and an area for calisthenics. Let’s keep it clean for the kids and families.”

β€œWe enjoy the swings and the baseball field. Plenty of parking and we usually come down in the late afternoons. We’ve seen games on the baseball field towards the canal side.”

β€œMy turnaround at the east end of the Ballona Creek Bike Path! I enjoy a rest stop here to take a break before heading back to Playa Del Rey! For locals, it also makes a good place to depart from when riding westbound towards the ocean. It’s a good medium sized park that’s nestled within a Culver City neighborhood. It may also serve as the site of regional play, with school teams from across the LA area. The recreation building was closed when I’ve passed thru, tho outside access public restrooms were available on the field side. With game play and spectators, these small facilities may be overwhelmed and messy. It has lot’s of free parking, shaded picnic tables, sports fields, BBQ’s, playground, recreation building and a tennis court. The park is within constant view of the Wrapper Building of Culver City and frequently, the Metro E-Line light rail train in passing.”

Overview

Syd Kronenthal Park divides its 6 acres across distinct zones: a dedicated preschool playground, a separate structure for older kids, two pickleball courts, basketball and tennis courts, and a baseball diamond. BBQ stands and shaded picnic tables sit throughout. The no-dogs-on-grass policy keeps the lawn clean for families. Restrooms are open daily. Free parking fills the on-site lot, with additional street parking nearby. The park also serves as a rest stop on the Ballona Creek Bike Path.
