How can you not love the cheese playground? Clean, well kept, lots for the kids to do. Plus, a bit of history behind the famous cheese! As someone who attended the old Glenside Weldon Elementary and the Junior High on this same site, I was one of thousands who mourned the loss of this school. Understandably, it was old and had to go. A Glenside Weldon Facebook site ensued for us all to watch ( and cry) as various sections of the school were being demolished. One thing every student of Glenside Weldon remembered was the yellow cheese climbing apparatus in the playground. The Cheese must be well over 100 years old by now and has likely been sandblasted and painted dozens of times. The GW alumni insisted the cheese remain and a massive movement started called “SAVE the CHEESE”! Darn good thing the township listened as I’m not sure how it might’ve other otherwise ended! So, yes, please keep playing on the cheese playground and make our collective hearts sing with nostalgic joy!

🏆 Family Action Verdict

A strong pick for families with kids spanning elementary through middle school age. Stroller and wheelchair access via paved blacktop is seamless. Event days add vendor markets and community energy to an already well-equipped park.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

💡Paved blacktop makes stroller and wheelchair navigation easy right up to the mulched play area
Bike racks are on site — kids can ride to the park and lock up before playing
🎟️Portable restrooms are available during baseball season only — plan restroom stops at other times of year

Went to an event here with the kids. Aside from vendors, there was plenty for my children to do. It’s a nice size playground and was able to accommodate my 6 year old as well as my 13 year old. A lot of parking was available. Had plenty of trash cans and portable potty. Very clean.

Great playground for all ages. Portapotty facilities during baseball season. Parking right next to playground. Basketball court, swings, big blacktop makes it easy to roll strollers or wheelchairs right to mulch, it’s also great for bike and scooter riding. Benches to sit, bike racks to store bikes. Trash bins make it easy to keep it clean.
