My 4-year old had a wonderful first time rock climbing! The staff was super friendly and taught us how to hook him up to the auto-belay, as well as showed him the best way to use the bouldering walls. The other climbers were also super support full and giving advice as he climbed along. We will definitely be back!

πŸ† Family Action Verdict

Best for families with kids aged 5 and upβ€”youth programs explicitly serve this age range. Auto-belay systems let younger kids climb independently on shorter walls as adults complete belay certification. Birthday parties are fully staffed and run 2.5 hours, making them a low-effort option.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

πŸ’‘First-time parent belayers must complete a 30-minute belay class before climbing with kids on top-rope wallsβ€”arrive early to allow time
⏰Auto-belays are available for younger kids who want to climb without waiting for adult certification
🎟️Youth programs for ages 5+ run in sessionsβ€”register through their website to secure a spot
πŸš—The fifth-floor location can be tricky to findβ€”call ahead and staff will guide you from the parking area

β€œThis is a great place. A little tough to find once we parked, but we called and they guided us right to it. My kids 9, 10, and 10 had a blast. We needed to take a 30 minute class to learn how to belay(sp?) the kids. We will be back. It was really cool. A great way to be active indoors.”

β€œBe careful! My wife and I have a membership at Vertical Dreams. For the last 2 years, we've been having my son climb with us twice a month. I would use a guest pass one time and my wife would use hers the 2nd time. All of a sudden, 1 employee at the gym said only 1 guest pass can be used on a person so we can't use a 2nd guess pass on my son... Their own website says "Member Benefits 1 free guest pass per month to use on anyone (Includes rentals, lessons not included)". Not only was this an issue, I was treated like I was trying to cheat the system. I'm just trying to climb with my family, I thought that's what Vertical Dreams wanted.”
