βI visited this gym once while I was in San Diego on business. I'm reviewing it as a training facility for rock climbing. The good: 1. The staff were friendly and helpful. 2. This is an old-school climbing gym, and I like that. They have textured walls rather than the Walltopia plywood walls seen in many modern gyms. This allows for more realistic cracks and smearing. 3. The training area seems adequate. I did not use it during my single visit, but they have standard weights, exercise machines, hangboards, and a MoonBoard. 4. They have a few auto-belays, so if you are alone, like I was, you can climb ropes without a partner. 5. A great variety of gradesβeven on the auto-belays. The not-so-good: 1. This is an older gym, and everything has been well used. The place seemed dirtier than most (but not all) climbing gyms Iβve visited. The lighting was also a little dim.β
