1 / 2Vertical World North
📍 Lynnwood, WA
Vertical World North features walls reaching 45–50 ft with top-rope, lead climbing, and approximately 11 auto-belays, plus a Kilter Board, Moon Board, and bouldering area.
Just did the introductory class and I'm super stoked to start climbing 🌟
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families with kids roughly 7 and up who are ready to try roped climbing. Auto-belays let kids climb independently once trained. Intro classes are the recommended entry point for complete beginners. Younger or less confident kids may find the wall heights intimidating without a structured lesson first.

“VWN is fantastic! They have so many walls, and everything you would want. The walls are tall (~45'-50'), they have tons of top ropes, lots of lead climbing (including an overhanging wall dedicated to lead climbing), usually around 11 auto-belays, a Moon Board, a large Kilter Board, a large bouldering area upstairs, a kids' bouldering wall and cave, and a shorter roped kids' wall. The route setting is also top-notch! Most of the roped routes tend to be in the 5.10-5.12 range, but they still have plenty of good beginner routes and some 5.13's for the true crushers. There's a wide range of bouldering problems too, with a good selection at every grade from V0 through V8, and some V9 and harder problems thrown in for the beasts. My one gripe is that the foam in the bouldering area is pretty firm. I wish they would use softer foam like SBP so it doesn't hurt when you miss that hold near the top of the wall and fall awkwardly, but it's mostly adequate. I've got all the love in the world for SBP, but you honestly get stronger and become a better climber with a combination of bouldering and roped climbing, so if I had to pick only one gym in the area, it'd be VWN. Don't get me wrong, there are lots of great climbing gyms in the area, but I don't think any of them have the quantity and variety of walls that VWN has. If you haven't been, give VWN a visit.”
