Vidiots
📍 Northeast Los Angeles, CA
Independent two-screen cinema showing classic, rare, and curated films including family favorites like My Neighbor Totoro and Mary Poppins sing-alongs. On-site rental library holds 60,000 DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K titles.
Vidiots is one of my favorite places in the SGV. They have so many movies available to rent as well as a photo both that uses real film. They also have a nice theatre and micro cinema that play a variety of movies that often sell out. Luckily, if a movie is sold out, they offer a limited amount of walk up tickets giving you another chance to be able to see the film. The theatre concession stand has really great prices and a ton of options for popcorn toppings. 😋 There is also a bar with a nice selection of drinks. The staff here are always so friendly and knowledgeable. They really make you feel welcomed. I truly can't say enough about how awesome Vidiots is! Just go and find out for yourself.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for film-loving families with older kids and teens ready to discover cinema history on the big screen. The curated programming rewards curious young viewers rather than passive ones. Toddlers and younger children will find the specialty schedule less suited to them. Seats run small and the theatre can warm up during longer screenings.

“Went for the Re-Animator screening and had tons of fun. Staff were incredibly nice, food was tasty and reasonably priced, bathrooms were extremely clean and even offered free feminine products (all bathrooms were gender neutral) My only concern was the theater was a bit stuffy/hot at times and the theater seats could be uncomfortable if youre of a larger stature like I am. The atmosphere felt incredibly welcoming and fun I highly recommend you check out their dvd rental area and/or any of their events, will definitely be coming back for both!”

“I can't say enough positive things about this theater. They really go out if their way to bring back nostalgia. And the staff, every one of them, is extremely friendly. Plus, fantastic popcorn! It's really cool too to see movies i never see on the big screen. Too see Car Wash, Clue, The Last Dragon and on and on. I do think membership is a little pricey but that's ME and maybe not you. Hence, I don't hold it against them. But, if you want to relive things in the big screen, this is the place to go to!”

“Friendly staff and very enthusiastic movie attendees. When a staff member introduced it before it started, most attendees admitted they had never seen the classic HK movie Hard Boiled with Chow Yun Fat before. But that did not in any way affect the extensive audience cheering and clapping throughout the movie. Just a bunch of good natured citizens gathering together to have a good time! PS Clean bathrooms and reasonable concession pricing!”

Overview
Vidiots operates two theatres — the Eagle and the MUBI Microcinema — programmed with classic revivals, international rarities, and family-friendly events. A 60,000-title rental library lines the walls. Sold-out screenings are common; a sparse walk-up allocation is held for most shows. All bathrooms are gender-neutral with free hygiene products. Concessions are reasonably priced, and the popcorn is a recurring highlight in reviews.
