The dog park attracted us there but we walked straight though and past it to hike up the trail beyond it with our dogs because we like to let them off leash when hiking and this trail is great for that. It's beautiful and quiet and opens up to a vast sceneary of the rolling hills with a great view for a sunset. We occasionally saw another hiker but mostly bike riders back there. We did see a snake on the path but it was just a baby gopher snake. It's not a trail for a casual walker as there are some steep climbs with loose ground and jagged rocks but the climb is always worth it.

🏆 Family Action Verdict

Best suited for families with dogs who want a complete park experience with playground and hiking options. Avoid during school rush hours due to busy intersection location. The park offers good facilities but lacks basic amenities like adequate water sources and shade.

â„šī¸ What to Know Before You Go

💡Bring your own water for both humans and dogs as fountains may not be available
⏰Avoid visiting during school rush hours or Calabasas High School activities
đŸŽŸī¸Park features wood chips/bark surface rather than grass in dog areas
🚗Hiking trails have steep climbs and loose rocks - not suitable for casual walkers

“September 2024: Wild Walnut Park is complete! There is both small and large dog areas , picnic area, childrens playground, shade structures, hiking trail, adjacent parking, and REAL restrooms. Rattlesnake proof fences surround the dog areas with wonderful dog fountains in each. Fine wood shavings everywhere, not the large bark pieces. However, it is located in a highly traversed intersection - Calabasas High School. I would not venture there during either rush hours or during school activities. A few more trees or shade structures would be nice. Good job City of Calabasas. I will be there again!”

“There's an opening between the small and big dog park. Its full of wood bark. I didn't see any running water for dogs to drink or for humans to fill their bowls. Its in a nice, cool area. The size of the areas are of good size.”

“Best dog park in Calabasas because of the people that go there and their pups only. Dislike the actual park. No shade. No water. No grass. No bathroom. Where are we? This can't be Calabasas can it? We at least need water. Please?”
