Wilmington Rock Gym
π Wilmington, NC
Wilmington Rock Gym offers 50+ top rope routes and 60+ bouldering routes on walls up to 20 feet. All-day bouldering entry is available without a lesson. Top-rope climbing above a set height requires a paid belay session.
LThe Rock Wall is a really fun activity and it's only $15 for all day in the climbing shoes are only four dollars. You can climb as high as the red line. If you want to go higher you pay $40 for a session on how to use the safety ropes and then you can climb it all the way to the top. We had three inexperienced climbers and all of them had a wonderful time and stayed for a couple of hours.
π Family Action Verdict
The bouldering section is accessible to children and first-timers without any prerequisite instruction. Kids aged 12 and up who want to reach the top of the walls should plan for the belay session. Birthday parties for the 10-to-teenage range earn particularly strong reviews from parents.

βWe hosted our sonβs birthday party here and couldnβt be happier with the experience. Shannon was absolutely wonderful to work with - especially when it came to rescheduling. She was incredibly accommodating, quick to respond, and made the whole process easy and stress-free. The kids (and their friends) had an absolute blast, and the energy in the gym was fantastic. We actually visited the facility for the first time last year and had so much fun that our son decided this was exactly where he wanted to celebrate his birthday. A special shout-out to Via - she is just a star and helped make the day even more memorable. Highly recommend Wilmington Rock Gym for parties or just a great time climbing!β

βHad a 13 year old boy/girl birthday party here. The staff was very good with this age group. They were very encouraging while the kids were climbing, clear and concise communicators about safety rules. The birthday room is very bare bones, but the kids didn't care one bit and had a blast climbing. The staff was easy to work with from the parent perspective as well.β

βI got my 12 year old a gift certificate for this gym and she had the best time on her first visit! She had never done rock climbing before, and the girl at the front was very nice and helped us figure out what we needed (shoes and a chalk bag) and what she would enjoy the most. She ended up bouldering (no ropes) and she enjoyed climbing for almost 2 hours. We will absolutely be back again!β
