📍 Mahncke Park, TX
The Witte spans natural history, Texas culture, and ocean science. The Naylor Family Dinosaur Gallery covers Cretaceous-era Texas creatures. The Texas Wild gallery features 150+ native animal specimens across distinct ecosystems.
Because of the rain not to many visitors. We took the train ride from the zoo. They had a hop on hop off at the Witte. We were able to see all the exhibits- it was very nice.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Strong pick for ages 5 and up. The Dinosphere-style dinosaur gallery captures younger kids immediately, and the Texas Wild gallery sustains older children's curiosity with detailed habitat dioramas. The museum's scale is substantial — budget at least three hours. Arriving via the zoo train is a popular option for families doing both attractions.

“I went here in The 90's when there was an arthropod exhibit called "Backyard Monsters" because I have always been into insects and arachnids. I remember seeing the largest widow spider I have ever seen and I have seen thousands. It was a Mediterranean black widow Latrodectus tredicumguttatus although it was dead and pinned, she had a large body and very long legs for a typical female widow spider. I think it may have been in 1993 not sure.”
