Large El Monte bowling center with 32 synthetic lanes, animated scoreboards, claw machines, a redemption arcade, full snack bar with boba, and dedicated party rooms. Handles large groups comfortably.
Event Details: 2 Hours Unlimited Bowling Snack Shop: Appetizer Platter (onion rings, jalapeΓ±o poppers, mozzarella sticks, chicken tenders/wings, taquitos, fries) & Teas: Thai, Milk, & Green I haven't bowled in ages; the last time I was at an alley was 8 years ago! Action Lanes was created by 4 bowling lovers to fill a void in SGV, & you can see their love in this 35K+ fully remodeled & furnished alley of 32 lanes animated scoreboards, top-of-the-line sound & lighting, snack shop that can satisfy your hunger & quench your thirst, pro shop for your convenience, claw machines & arcade games for entertainment, & private rooms for birthdays & other parties. Located on the east side of Midway Plaza, the bowling alley sits in the center with plenty of parking spaces. Since itβs a private event, waivers were required & we were off for almost 2 hours of bowling. The YEE seamless & efficiency was due to the completed confirmation form that allowed the Yelp team to preassigned lanes, bowlers set-up on console (for bowling order), loaner shoes prep (provided at assigned lane) with socks schwag. I was assigned to Lane 26, & didn't start bowling until 6:30 PM, waiting for the other bowlers. A completed game would take about an hour with 5 on a lane; if our team is prompt with rotation (next bowler on deck & ready to go after current bowler is finished), we can get 2 games in (didn't happen; just 2+ frames shy). I was the 5th wheel (didn't mind since I like meeting new peeps) because the other 4 were friends. Just before the 1st hour was up, we were served an Appetizer Platter: Onion Rings, JalapeΓ±o Poppers, Mozzarella Sticks, Chicken Tenders/Wings, Taquitos, & Fries with dipping sauces: ketchup, salsa, marinara, & ranch. Even with Yelp team's assistance, trying to prep 32 platters to be serve simultaneously was challenging, especially since there's 6 fried sides that needs to be fried, drained, & assembled on a tray... of course the food was cold. I didn't get that cheesy mozzarella pull; though everything was cold, only the fries were barely passable because of the waxy & gritty texture. My team got 1 of each with some extras of taquitos, onion rings, & fries. Teas were served a few minutes later... I wanted to try their Thai Tea so I waited for the next pass before I nabbed one. Flavor is comparable to boba shops, but the boba was mushy/overcooked. My goal was to not throw gutters & I did in almost every frame! LMAO οΌΌ(^o^)οΌ I managed to stay in the middle of the pack in Game 1; I had 1 strike that I didn't convert (only score 1 on the next frame) & spare at the last frame. I fared slightly better in Game 2 with mostly 9s & converted my only spare for a bonus 7. I managed to get the highest cumulative scored, but Mickey didn't bowl & is 1 frame short so she could be the lead. The only way I could score 100+ is if I hit a "turkey" on the last 2 frames (highly unlikely). I used 9 - 11 lb. bowling balls; not sure if I consistently used the same ball if it would make a difference. I typically open with a heavier ball, & use a lighter one to try & convert a spare. The lower number lanes were closed earlier, assuming they were able to start on the hour or thereabouts. Action Lanes gave the higher lanes a couple of minutes after the hour, & our lane was just 1 bowler shy of finishing frame 7. I wandered a couple of times to see if I know anyone & spot a "turkey" (nope), I did see some strikes though. I had a fantabulously fun bowling night with yummy snacks & refreshing tea! It's quite a drive but the specials are worth taking advantage of... definitely a fan!
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families with kids of all ages who want a comprehensive bowling-plus-entertainment outing, particularly larger groups of 10 or more. The 32-lane capacity means walk-in availability is reliable. The claw machines and boba bar extend the visit beyond bowling.

βWhat a fun experience! Claw machines, a restaurant, and bowling β the perfect combination for a great night out. The staff was fantastic! They were polite, friendly, and incredibly helpful. We accidentally spilled a drink, and they were quick to clean it up without hesitation. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a fun and relaxed time.β

βLittle hole in the wall bowling alley. Itβs a little outdated but Iβm not going there to stare at the walls, Iβm going to enjoy some bowling! Didnβt experience any issues on our visit and the customer service was great and very informational.β

βFun place for a night out with friends or family. They can accommodate for large groups with 32 bowling lanes. They serve small appetizers, have a boba and bar area, pool table and some arcade/claw machines. The are multi-stall restrooms, clean and are handicap accessible. There's plenty of shared lot parking. Note: they charge $1+ for a pitcher of ice water.β
