1 / 2Autry Museum of the American West
๐ Griffith Park, CA
Griffith Park museum with galleries spanning Wild West history, Native American culture, and Black cowboy heritage. Rotating exhibitions, interactive areas, school tour programs, and occasional on-site food trucks. Located across from LA Zoo.
Really nice experience at this museum. It has a lot of exhibits that were a pleasant surprise as I wasn't aware this museum had so much in there. I especially enjoyed the Black Cowboy Exhibit which really was informative and engaging. I loved learning a lot about the history of the Black Cowboys and how relevant they are in today's society. This museum also has a huge gift shop full of great goodies. I definitely recommend visiting this museum.
๐ Family Action Verdict
Best for families with school-age children and older who can engage with text-heavy historical exhibits and nuanced cultural displays. The interactive zones and enthusiastic staff help younger visitors stay engaged. Pair it with a visit to the LA Zoo across the road for a full-day Griffith Park outing.

โAmazing museum! Exceeded my expectations. Fantastic galleries, and loved the interactive areas. Staff was all so pleasant and passionate about their job and the history! Donโt even get me started on their small garden with a whole water fountain. Would definitely recommend. Underrated gem!โ
