This is a fantastic playground for kiddos inside the LA Zoo. It's usually crowded on nice days, but in the 10+ times we've been here, there is always a friendly culture of sharing and getting along. There are picnic tables and bathrooms with changing tables in both the men's and women's restrooms, so dads don't have any excuses ;-)

🏆 Family Action Verdict

Best for families already visiting LA Zoo who need a structured play break mid-visit. The shaded picnic tables, changing tables in both restrooms, and age-appropriate equipment make it a genuinely useful stop. Families coming solely for the playground should factor in zoo admission — the park is not accessible without it.

â„šī¸ What to Know Before You Go

💡Use the play park as a mid-zoo rest break rather than the main destination
⏰Changing tables are in both the men's and women's restrooms — a rare convenience
đŸŽŸī¸Picnic tables and shade make it a good spot for packed lunches
🚗Arrive early on warm days — the play area fills quickly in fine weather

“Lovely spot to take a few minutes to rest after crossing the zoo. Plenty of shade, though it definitely gets busy, so plan accordingly. Fun animal play equipment for the kids to enjoy, along with the regular assortment of playground facilities. Jungle gym, bridges, etc.”
