βMy friends and I decided to try bouldering for the first time at Brooklyn Boulders. For first-time climbers, this was an entertaining and exciting adventure! Upon entry, you will be checked in with the staff. I highly recommend filling out the waiver form online, but you can fill it out there too. If you plan on doing the high rock-climbing, you have to rent the harness. While chalk is optional, I highly recommend renting a bag too. It does help! In the front and middle of the building, you will see several tall rock-climbing areas. You can get a staff to help assist your pulley. You can even attend classes, which I plan on doing when I come back. The other areas are for bouldering. If you have any questions, feel free to ask the staff. Otherwise, start at the beginner level of V0 and work your way up. Basically, your hands start at the tape by the holds near the bottom and you finish the climb by having both hands touch the uppermost hold where the tape is. Not only can you do bouldering and climbing, but there is a small gym in the basement for you to workout and do yoga! With a fancy hydration station and multiple lockers throughout the building, this was the perfect place for first-timers like my friends and I. Just a side note, please be respectful to each other and try not to block anyone's way or idle on the mats! Other than that, I hope you have as much fun as my friends and I. Your hands will get calloused and may be sore for a few days, so fair warning for all.β
