1 / 3Movement LIC
π Queens, NY
Full-service indoor rock climbing gym in Long Island City featuring auto-belay walls, top rope, lead climbing, bouldering, and a second-floor fitness area. Free introductory rope climbing classes available.
I had such a great time here! The instructors were very kind and welcoming, which made the experience even better. I took an intro class for rope climbing, and it was not only free but also a lot of fun. Definitely worth itβIβll be coming back again, and next time Iβll bring a few friends along!
π Family Action Verdict
The right fit for families with older kids or teens who are ready to push past beginner level β the route variety, auto-belay accessibility, and SSS-tier staff make it one of the standout climbing gyms in New York City. Younger beginners will find the auto-belay section thin on easy routes, so managing expectations beforehand helps.

βMy friend brought me here to experience rock climbing, and I really like it here. The people here are very friendly, and there is also a fitness area on the second floor. I often come here for climbingβ

βAuto belay, lots of top rope & lead, fantastic bouldering. Has a complete gym area and even has belayed slack lining. Bonus points from SSS-tier staff. I'd give this place a 6/5 if I couldβ

βEndless possibilities here, especially if you know how to belay. A bit limited for intro level kids in the auto-belay area - I'd love if there was one 5.4 or a couple of 5.5 routes like other gyms. Snacks for sale were kind of limited so I'd bring your own water and fuel for longer visits. Bonus points for giving each climber their own chalk bag which not many other places give. Parking in the area is a pain on most days but a little better at night.β

Overview
Movement LIC offers auto-belay stations, top rope and lead climbing walls, extensive bouldering, and a complete gym area on the second floor including belayed slack lining. Free intro rope climbing classes run regularly, making first visits accessible for newcomers. Routes skew intermediate to advanced, with sparse 5.4-5.5 beginner options in the auto-belay section. Parking in the area is challenging during daytime hours; evening visits tend to be easier. Snack options on-site are sparse.
