1 / 2Buffalo Bayou Park
📍 Washington Avenue Coalition / Memorial Park, TX
Free 160-acre green space west of downtown Houston featuring paved hiking and biking trails, native gardens, a nature play area, dog park, and unobstructed Houston skyline views along Buffalo Bayou.
I didn't think id ever be a "Park" connoisseur..but WOW 🤯.!! if I was..this place would get a chef's kiss 💋. This place is an Artists DELIGHT!!! This place is so beautiful it even made me look Handsome 😅🤣. The juxtaposition of every element is here (please see photos 📸) The contrast between nature, water , birds 🐦 buildings and a Hard driven highway within feet of eachother work in harmony. We only intended to walk the trail for a mile or so but the scenery just keeps pulling the viewer in because there is something after every corner. Very impressed with the thought and methodical effort put into this place and it only confirms my great decision to buy a vacation home in Houston ⭐️. Skate park was nice, The events at the Cistern brings in an Artsy crowd. Artwork, murals etc 😘🤌. I can go on. Exceptional job Houston 👏 👌..keep em coming. God bless and long live the Buffalo 🐃
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Active families who enjoy walking or cycling with children old enough to cover distance will get the most from this park. The free entry, pram-friendly paths, and skyline backdrop make it a go-to for weekend outings.

“We arrived on Saturday afternoon at about 1pm. It took a little bit to find parking on the Sabine street side. I am SO grateful that this park is free to use and public restrooms are on site. We had our electric bikes and we would stop to see the fountains, waterfalls, the dog park and the Houston skyline. There was a sand volleyball court! I think since the sand was wet. It was a beautiful day so I highly recommend this park for walking, bike riding, dog walking and picnicking.”

“Live right across st from BBP, The scenes, smells, flavors, meet ups, Exercise, Scenery is remarkable. The smell of burning wood, pine trees, off the north trail line, for Disabled & Seniors alike astound. See the Cistern, feel the vibe of the welcoming park. Birds, trees, flowers, mid nite, hurricanes, rain, moon & stars are served up here.”

“One of the best skyline views in Houston. Easy to access from Allen Parkway with walking and bike trails, and the Sabine bridge area has great shaded spots, perfect for a picnic. Limited metered parking along Allen Parkway, but reasonable, $1.20/3 hours and EV charging.”
