1 / 3Cabin John Ice Rink
📍 Rockville, MD
Three rinks — NHL, Olympic, and Studio — plus a dance studio, four party rooms, pro shop with skate sharpening, and a café with free Wi-Fi. Public skating, figure skating, and hockey classes run year-round for all skill levels.
$15 for stick and puck and they don’t let the kids use pucks unless you buy or bring your own. Good luck, trying to keep track of your own puck. so I was there earlier today and the kids are standing around waiting for a puck to come their way. i’d recommend going to Rockville, Garden ice house in Laurel, or in Virginia MedSTAR ice Plex.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for school-age kids and teens who want structured skating or hockey instruction, and families seeking a drop-in public session any season. The dedicated Studio rink makes beginner lessons less intimidating. Young children benefit from the shallow learning curve of group lessons; experienced skaters will appreciate the full-size Olympic rink.

“The ice on the NHL rink is terrible all the time. They often have to do multiple runs of the Zamboni to get it in passable shape. It is really dark in the rink also if you are there at night. Also, the lines can barely be seen, even the refs have a hard time sometimes finding the dots and the blue lines. The locker room are good, but the one of the bathrooms attached to the locker room was DISGUSTING and out of service. This is the wealthiest neighborhood by far, but has the worst ice.”
