1 / 3Choo Choo Barn
๐ Strasburg, NY
Indoor model train attraction in Strasburg operating since 1961. Features 17 trains, 180+ hand-built animated figures, Lancaster County landmark recreations, a large circus display, and interactive buttons throughout. All ages including toddlers.
Choo Choo Barn surpassed my expectations. This small world is a must see if you are in the state. The town is so detailed and immersive that it could easily hold your attention for a hour. There was running water, fish, and night/day lighting cycles. It is perfect for all ages. We went in a group of 6 20-something adults and it did not disappoint. There are also interactive components where you press buttons and certain elements move. All of these worked for me. You just have to look for a second to spot the moving action. The ticket was $13 which I would surely pay again to see something like this. It is also connected to a model train store and ice cream shop so you can expect to spend a whole afternoon at this stop.
๐ Family Action Verdict
A genuinely captivating attraction for all ages โ adults slow down to find the hidden details as children hit the interactive buttons and chase moving trains with their eyes. The 1961 heritage layout has been continuously refined, with new features added regularly.

โVery large O gage village featuring realistic diorama scenes featuring Lancaster County attractions and businesses. Very large circus display with automated figures and animals. Everywhere you look there are moving people and vehicles. Well worth a visit for families, rail enthusiasts, and anyone interested in very detailed miniatures. I give it a five star rating..โ

โSecond time here for me, but first for my kiddo. This is one of the better train layouts I have been to. I noticed some new features in the layout that I hadn't seen before. Another thing that is cool about this layout is that they incorporated many aspects of Lancaster County into it. Some that have been incorporated include Dutch Wonderland, among others.โ

โAlways a great experience at the Choo Choo barn! Space is a little tight though when kids are running through it but we managed! Didn't find all the pumpkins, we were 5 short! Great atmosphere and the workers were funny and entertaining! Second time coming, we will probably visit more in the future. Appreciate all the work that goes into maintaining this.โ
