đ Family Action Verdict
Best for families with older kids and teens who want a genuine climbing challenge. The slab-focused wall suits beginners learning footwork. Younger children can visit on day passes with a supervising adult. Those chasing heavy overhang terrain should consider a different Austin gym.

âThis is my lair. Wish I could live here. I asked them and they said no. Whatever. They have great slab.. but if you want more overhang, go to ABP or Mesa Rim. The routes are always challenging. That's good. I'm always up for a challenge.â

âI've been climbing in Austin for the better part of two years, but only found out yesterday that this gym was right down the street from where I lived. One of the front-desk staff was kind enough to give me a day pass (thank you Sar, you're really cool and I love your energy and enthusiasm), so I at least got to try it out. Overall it was a pretty good experience. A lot of available routes of different grades, different types of walls including quite a large roof/cave area. I didn't use the gym/fitness area, but it seemed well equipped, and I'm told they have fitness and yoga classes. The animal grading system I find whimsical, but also a bit confusing and unintuitive. The hangboards were set very low to the floor compared to what I'm used to, so they felt cramped to use. And it may be a temporary issue, but on the day I went the air conditioning system seemed incapable of adequately conditioning the air, so it was a very sweaty session and my chalk seemed to vanish the instant I put hands to holds. Also the floor padding is a bit firm. It seems alright for the height of the walls, but there are softer materials out there which I think are much friendlier to land on when falling uncontrolled. Still a good neighborhood climbing gym overall. I wish I had more time to enjoy it.â
