1 / 2Dinosaur Playground
π Manhattan, NY
Spacious Manhattan playground with sprinklers, sand pits, and shade - perfect for summer days. Movie fans will recognize it as The Warriors filming location.
Located in Riverside Park, basically came here because it was used as a filming location for the 1979 movie The Warriors. This is where they filmed the big meeting with all the gangs. Part of it has now been turned into a children's playground with play equipment, but most of the bridge structure and walkways and railings from 1979 are still there. I even found some old graffiti written on one of the walls.
π Family Action Verdict
This playground works well for families with young children, especially during summer thanks to sprinklers and shade. It's particularly appealing for parents who are fans of The Warriors movie. The space is well-maintained but highway noise may be noticeable to some visitors.

βThe playground is spacious and mostly shaded, with sprinklers, which is perfect on summer days. There are two sand pits and two frames - one for the little ones, which is open, and the other frame is currently under renovation. We enjoyed our time there, even though you can hear the sound of the highway.β

βFrom the outside it looks like your ordinary kids playground but if you have an affinity for gang films this was the setting for the opening scene in The Warriors. I made it my mission to see visit this place if I came to New York and so glad that I did. Nostalgia!β
